We're currently not planning to support iSight barcode scanning in Checkout.
Checkout 1.1 lets you perform all sales, purchases and stock related tasks in a retail store. It tracks all transactions, which are easily exported in an accountant-savvy format.
Checkout is suitable for use on a single cash-register only, which means, right now it does not support using multiple Macs to run a single store.
Good question. We are dedicated to add more features our users need. If you would like to see a networked version of Checkout, please let us know through our contact page.
Mac OS X 10.4.6 or later.Checkout works fine on any Mac that's capable of running Tiger. And it really screams on Intel based Macs.
Checkout is currently available in English, German, Brazilian Portuguese, Dutch, French, Spanish, Italian and Catalan. Several other languages including Swedish, Norwegian, Korean and Chinese are planned for a future release. If you would like to see Checkout in a language that's not listed here, please let us know through our contact page.
Checkout currently supports all USB barcode scanners that emulate a keyboard, the USB versions of the Star TSP 100- and 700-series receipt printers and any cash drawer that connects to them. For a complete list see our hardware support page
If there's any specific device that you would like Checkout to support please let us know and we will investigate the possibility.
All of Checkout's printing templates are completely customizable. You'll need some HTML and CSS knowledge to edit them. For a copy of the default templates and documentation on how to edit them see the Template Editing how-to.
After opening Checkout, choose 'Reveal Database' from the 'File' menu. All of your store's information is contained in the 'Store.checkout' file. To make a backup, simply copy it to another disk or computer.
Checkout does not support the compounded tax systems of Saskatchewan, Quebec and Prince Edward Island, in which the PST is applied over the original price + GST. It does work with sales tax rates in other regions of Canada. We are planning to add support for compounded taxes in a future release.
Barcodes can be printed from the Assortment report in Checkout. You can use the ones your supplier provides by scanning them into the 'Barcode' field in the Product Manager, or enter something else like the product's code to generate them from.
There are lots of dedicated barcode applications available, a good one, complete with more documentation about barcodes can be found on http://www.pro-barcode.com.
Click the 'Register' item from the 'Checkout' menu and enter your serial number. For more info see this page.
You Checkout license is bound to your Mac. That means you can only use your copy of Checkout on 1 mac at the time (unless you have a multiple seat license) When you want to re-install Checkout your license code will have to be reset so you can use it on a new mac. We will do this for you, just send an email to info@madebysofa.com with you licensecode. This service is free of charge.
