update & are wondering if the fix could maybe be adjusted? The
issue - Checkout now blocks the ability to create variations on
products that already have stock. We have several products that
already had variations (before the update) that I can no longer
access the details on (since the update) because when I click "Show
Variations" for that product it now gives me a "cannot create
variations" error. When I try to look at stock under the parent
product it says "see variations" or "variations exist" so basically
I am blocked out of any details on these products. I cannot see
barcodes or stock levels, pricing or anything. This is an issue
when inventory or other details need adjusting for sale. Please
advise if this can be fixed in next update OR (preferably) now.</p></div>tammytag:support.checkoutapp.com,2011-09-23:Comment/193543332012-10-08T18:08:19Z2012-10-08T18:08:19ZCheckout 4.0 update<div><p>We had this problem too, I remember getting round it by

to weigh in on the progress of 4.0. As with software development,
it's never as fast or as easy as we'd like or hope. That said, our
development team has been very busy over the last 18 months (12
updates released) focusing on speed improvements (most areas
10-100x faster), fixing bugs (733 fixed) and adding smaller
features (85 added). Still, I agree that we had hoped to have added
a few major enhancements by now. And we're working on just that. So
while we have no dates for you, I want to be clear that we are
still very focused on Checkout and that we are still most
definitely listening.</p>
<p>re: speed, if you are still experiencing any performance/speed
issues (implied in a post above), please email/call into the call
center directly. We'd like to better understand any such issues so
that we can address them.</p>
<p>Again, thanks.</p>
<p>-Scott, Acclivity Co-Founder</p></div>Scotttag:support.checkoutapp.com,2011-09-23:Comment/193543332013-05-23T13:18:21Z2013-05-23T13:18:22ZCheckout 4.0 update<div><p>This open development window does not work Scott.</p>
<p>We need dates for when new systems and fixes will be in place.
If you can not provide this the small amount of hope is not enough
for many to stay around, especially with a new version of
lightspeed now out at a similar price.</p>
<p>We need a FIRM date for-</p>
<ol>
<li>Some sort of live(ish) webstore stock integration. Be it with
enstore or not.<br></li>
<li>Tax option on invoice/order screen for amounts to be with or
without tax. Getting the calculator out each time to work out the
price ex tax looks LAME.<br></li>
<li>An efficient way to do stocktake</li>
</ol>
<p>These a fundamental systems that your software has failed to
deliver despite promises going back to very early versions. Hire
some more programmers and live up to your customers expectations or
at least give us clear indications that you plan not to so we can
move on!</p></div>Jonnytag:support.checkoutapp.com,2011-09-23:Comment/193543332013-05-23T18:57:39Z2013-05-23T18:57:39ZCheckout 4.0 update<div><p>@Jonny I understand your need to better pinpoint when certain
features, features key to your business, will be added. But if
there's anything I've learned from my years in software development
is that there are no "firm" dates and I'm reluctant to put out a
date that we can't meet for a variety of reasons. What I can tell
you is that your item #1 (Live-ish Stock Sync) is top on our list
and will be included in the next major feature release. Hopefully
rolled out in the coming months. While your other two features have
been identified and are on our list, they won't be delivered in the
coming months and will most likely be included in a 4.x update at
some point.</p>
<p>At the end of the day, we recognize you need a product that'll
address your business needs so that you can be as successful as
possible. We live this unspoken customer contract each day, as we
try as hard as possible to build a product to satisfy those needs.
If we're not doing that for your particular business, we completely
understand you'll look elsewhere for a product that does.</p>

understand your frustration and frankly, if it were as easy as it
sounds, we'd opt to have constant upgrades churned out more
regularly. While we are working on an upgrade (I do not have a
date), we've also been very focused on performance/stability and
have delivered numerous updates on that front. Which is why I'm
concerned about @james comments about his slow store. We're not
hearing about many/any performance issues, so if you're
experiencing issues please make sure you're working with support so
that we can figure out what's going on. As far as add'l major
features/an upgrade; if we're not delivering a feature that's key
for your business, Checkout may not be the ideal fit and it's
reasonable for you to look elsewhere. Hopefully CO4 includes a
feature that's important for your store, but likewise, there will
be many features we never add to Checkout.</p>

have been promised since day dot. Web 'integration' has always been
touted as a feature that was going to be improved. GST calculation
on the sales screen was promised in 3.1.</p>
<p>While I agree the stability has been good, and performance
improved a lot over the last releases. So much so that I have been

them.</p></div>jamestag:support.checkoutapp.com,2011-09-23:Comment/193543332013-09-19T20:58:39Z2013-09-19T20:58:41ZCheckout 4.0 update<div><p>My Checkout is running super right now.<br>

<p>The ssd made a huge difference, but I had ssd already on my old
2008 mac mini.<br>
Going from 2008 to latest 2012 mac mini model 2.6 with quad core
really did kick it a lot forward. Especially since I use touch
screen I have a huge need for speed otherwise when it acts too slow
you start hitting the screen 2 or 3 times and just slowing things
more down.</p>
<p>I mean I don't use the PO part, when stock comes I just throw it
in in the stock room.<br>
Also I just have most products without stock info, since It is just
too time consuming to keep adding low amounts of stock. But I do
have stock count on the part that I find important. I think it
helps the database staying a little leaner I have only about 15
PO's in there.<br>

<p>Maybe that's my problem - I'm trying to use checkout for stock
control. But then that's the whole reason I bought it! I have
hundreds of purchase orders.</p>
<p>I'm going to see if an SSD helps. It turned my 17" MBP into a
speed demon and I would expect it massively to improve anything
which uses a disk-based database like SQL - especially one which
probably isn't optimised that well.</p>

I used to make PO's too and it is a good system, but in the country
I live most suppliers never supply the entire PO and then I had all
these PO's open so that became a real mess and that is the real
reason I stopped. I do use stock count for all items that I need
for. But in the shop part I can also check on employees with the
suppliers invoice and the timeframe in the products sold
report.</p>
<p>I donno if Im the only one but latest mac mini quad core in
combo with Iiyami touchscreen works great for checkout. The only
slowdown is when typing the quantity since I need to grab the mouse
to click on that small quantity field.<br>
My touch screen is still from 2008, its 17 inch, old but works
great, much better then it ever did on the old mini I had. Its
really responsive now many times I add a new product on the fly
with a customer waiting, it only takes me 20 seconds, but it is
annoying I always need to change the price field after creation
since when creating a product it only creates it ex.vat. duh (
developers can we fix that one day ? )<br>

Not sure from what year your system is but ssd is nice but really
faster on sata 3.<br>
You'll get double the speed compared to for example mini 2010 model
with sata 2.</p>
<p>I have a lot of customers who are very inpatient and are used to
take no bill or a quick hand written bill. They are not always keen
to wait for me to take 'something out of stock'. But thanks to the
new Checkout and super fast hardware I'm fine now, I even print the
bills manually ( most customers don't want it) but with the
touchscreen its just two taps on the screen.</p></div>tomtag:support.checkoutapp.com,2011-09-23:Comment/193543332013-09-27T18:31:50Z2013-09-27T18:31:50ZCheckout 4.0 update<div><p>thanks again for your advice with this Tom</p>
<p>I will have a go at the SSD next week and see how that goes. Our
shop is more of a convenience store which sounds a bit different to
your operation?</p>
<p>We use AccountEdge for processing the purchase invoices, so when
we receive a purchase on Checkout it then gets exported to
AccountEdge via the journal export function. The value of the
entire order turns up in the shop purchases control account in
AccountEdge, which we can then reconcile with the purchase invoice
when it arrives.</p>
<p>If we used the stock adjustment function then <em>every</em>
individual stock change would turn up in the wastage account in
AccountEdge and would be nearly impossible to reconcile with the
purchase invoice when it arrives.</p>
<p>How do you deal with that?</p>

create<br>
several products called 'gift certificate', each for a set amount,
and<br>
check 'Needs Serial' in the General tab on Product Manager. Go to
Label<br>
Printing in the Window menu (⇧ + cmd + L) and search for gift
certificate,<br>
add the gift certificate products to the Print Labels window and
print them<br>
onto sticky labels, then write a different serial number under each
one and<br>
stick them onto gift cards. When sold, add the unique serial number
into<br>
the product before invoicing. When cashed in, the person on the
sales desk<br>
searches for the serial number in paid invoices to check it is from
a valid<br>
sale and not a duplicate, scans the barcode into a sale, and types
in the<br>
serial number. The key is to set the gift certificate product up as
a<br>
<em>negative</em> amount of money <em>after printing the
barcode</em> so it is deducted from the total when redeemed and you
don't have to change the amount on the<br>
invoice.</p>
<p>If you don't want to have to type in the serial number then just
include a<br>
unique serial number in the description, e.g., "£50 Gift
Certificate<br>
xtql9p", and this barcode can be used to scan for the original sale
in paid<br>
invoices, but you can only make one product per certificate, which
should<br>
be deleted after it has been redeemed.</p>

I really like the software and requested and asked a lot about
things that would be great for the future but there was no
change.<br>
I guess you are working on projects that are more important for you
but the software is good, great Design and usability but since the

get new features all the time. I even would be willing to pay more
if there would be more features.<br>
Import and Export of order from CSV or other eCommerce Software
