Everything here has a story
With that, Jen Chaky makes the understatement of the morning. As she sits amongst her organized towers of merchandise, the handwritten note on her chalkboard seems to best capture her spirit: "Every bit of plastic is still in existence! It never goes away!" Jen isn’t interested in what’s new. It’s what’s already here that holds her focus.

“I call it an Eco Store, but it’s really about selling products that are either sustainably made, recycled or organic. When I thought about opening a store, I didn’t want to just sell more stuff the world doesn’t need.”
Instead, Jen tries to find unique items you never would have dreamed you needed - until you see them. The chip bowl fashioned from Bruce Springsteen’s “Asbury Park” LP. The clock that was a bike crank in a past life.
It should come as no surprise that Jen’s still holding on to her old, reliable MacBook.
“I know I should probably upgrade, but I’m trying to go as long as I can.”
Still, it’s refreshing that even Jen gets a glimmer in her eye when talking about buying a brand new Mac.
“I was first introduced to Macs by accident, but I think it was fate. Macs are just like me.”
And it was a similar zen-like connection to easy to use software that led her to choose Checkout as her Point of Sale solution.
“I am not what you’d call computer savvy, so I really love that Checkout is so Mac-like, that it was so simple to get started. And, this may sound silly, but I love the way it looks.”
Looking back across her store and Jen’s innate sense of confidence and style, we’ll take that as a compliment.

Jen’s Favorite Feature
One word: Search.
“When I need to find a bag, I type ‘bag’ and instantly I see all my bags. Hemp bags, canvas bags. The way it works is so simple, but so perfect. The search function allows me to always feel organized.”
