Separating Credit Card types (ie AMEX)
Is there a way to have credit cards separated during a sale instead of just clicking the credit card option? We need this because there are different fees for AMEX cards and we need them separated when we synch the days sales with Quickbooks.

Josh,
Thank you for your inquiry. If I understand correctly, you are looking to export the Amex, Visa, MC, etc. totals from the ledger into Quickbooks. The ledger exports the total credit card amounts not broken down by type. However, the Processed Payments Report will show all credit card types for sales processed in Checkout by the selected date range. In the payment window, these can be totalled by type for the date.
I hope this helps.

Thank you for the reply. That is information that will be handy to have later.
My question was more in reference to during the actual sale, how do I differentiate between credit card companies? How am I supposed to know how many Visa, AMEX, MC, charges we made that day?

Josh,
During the sale, when you enter the credit card number, the card type will be automatically detected. You can get the total amounts received for the day broken down by card type (Amex, Visa, MC) from the Processed Payments Report.
I hope this helps.

We aren't accepting the actual payments through Checkout. We use a separated credit card terminal. So when we swipe a credit card the terminal reads the card, but checkout need to be told what type of card it is correct?

Josh,
Checkout will only know the card type if the payment is processed through Checkout. When using a separate card terminal machine, outside of Checkout, such as you are, you can mark the invoice as paid by Credit Card. We are sorry, but there is no way to designate any other information about the credit card used.

I think this needs to change. We basically can't except American Express without this feature. Yes, I also put in a request form.
