    Hi Josh:

We're hoping towards the end of the year, but I don't have an exact time frame for you.

    Regards

We are having problems with ae "fix" you created in the last update & are wondering if the fix could maybe be adjusted? The issue - Checkout now blocks the ability to create variations on products that already have stock. We have several products that already had variations (before the update) that I can no longer access the details on (since the update) because when I click "Show Variations" for that product it now gives me a "cannot create variations" error. When I try to look at stock under the parent product it says "see variations" or "variations exist" so basically I am blocked out of any details on these products. I cannot see barcodes or stock levels, pricing or anything. This is an issue when inventory or other details need adjusting for sale. Please advise if this can be fixed in next update OR (preferably) now.

We had this problem too, I remember getting round it by accessing the
variations from another computer, although that did not always work...

  4. 4 Posted by tammy on 08 Oct, 2012 09:14 PM

You can get around needing an inventory adjustment at checkout by using a different computer but even on a different computer if you can access the stock tab BUT it will not let me into the stock tab, price tab or any other tab on certain items with variations. I am guessing they are items that had stock before I created variations but since I can't access a stock tab I have no way of knowing.

    Thanks for the info.
I didn't update yet to the latest and I'm adding a lot to variations these weeks.
    I'll sure skip this update.

Hi MIke, Any update on the new release please? You did say that you were aiming for the end of the year. Are you still on track for that?

Also can you give any clues as to what will be included in Checkout 4.0? I've been trialling checkout for the last month and I'm about to buy it, so any info would be useful right now.

Looking forward to the new update hoping to see some nice features and hopefully there's gift card and discount codes that would help me out a lot

Hello, we want to buy checkout for a new shop in Belgium. Do you know if the Checkout 4.0 update will be available before the 1st february 2013 ?

Thanks a lot for your answer.

  11. 11 Posted by sheppard on 17 Apr, 2013 08:56 PM

I think one of the important things would be either a connector to Magento or a possibility to not only import customers and products but to import orders from a CSV. Most online store export orders as CSV so if you could import them to checkout it would save a lot of time for every person who runs an online store and does not want to use the enstore.

I agree with sheppard regarding interfaces with other online store programs! Thanks for bringing that up.

    Checkout are you listening?

  14. 14 Posted by Stefan Sheppard on 27 Apr, 2013 11:11 AM

I would say not really I think they are ignoring most of the peoples questions and wishes. Since the sofa guys left it seems the software lost its soul. I knew the version 3 for over a year and have been using it for over three years and since then nothing really changed or got updated. So I'm looking into another software that has a better support and more updates.
Feel sorry about the software as its GUI and easyness was really nice. But for me it got really slow and it would a lot of new features to keep up with other software.

Hi all, as always thanks for your interest in Checkout. I wanted to weigh in on the progress of 4.0. As with software development, it's never as fast or as easy as we'd like or hope. That said, our development team has been very busy over the last 18 months (12 updates released) focusing on speed improvements (most areas 10-100x faster), fixing bugs (733 fixed) and adding smaller features (85 added). Still, I agree that we had hoped to have added a few major enhancements by now. And we're working on just that. So while we have no dates for you, I want to be clear that we are still very focused on Checkout and that we are still most definitely listening.

re: speed, if you are still experiencing any performance/speed issues (implied in a post above), please email/call into the call center directly. We'd like to better understand any such issues so that we can address them.

    Again, thanks.

This open development window does not work Scott.

We need dates for when new systems and fixes will be in place. If you can not provide this the small amount of hope is not enough for many to stay around, especially with a new version of lightspeed now out at a similar price.

We need a FIRM date for-

    1. Some sort of live(ish) webstore stock integration. Be it with enstore or not.
    2. Tax option on invoice/order screen for amounts to be with or without tax. Getting the calculator out each time to work out the price ex tax looks LAME.
    3. An efficient way to do stocktake

These a fundamental systems that your software has failed to deliver despite promises going back to very early versions. Hire some more programmers and live up to your customers expectations or at least give us clear indications that you plan not to so we can move on!

  17. Support Staff 17 Posted by Scott on 23 May, 2013 06:57 PM

@Jonny I understand your need to better pinpoint when certain features, features key to your business, will be added. But if there's anything I've learned from my years in software development is that there are no "firm" dates and I'm reluctant to put out a date that we can't meet for a variety of reasons. What I can tell you is that your item #1 (Live-ish Stock Sync) is top on our list and will be included in the next major feature release. Hopefully rolled out in the coming months. While your other two features have been identified and are on our list, they won't be delivered in the coming months and will most likely be included in a 4.x update at some point.

At the end of the day, we recognize you need a product that'll address your business needs so that you can be as successful as possible. We live this unspoken customer contract each day, as we try as hard as possible to build a product to satisfy those needs. If we're not doing that for your particular business, we completely understand you'll look elsewhere for a product that does.

I hope you guys are busy beavering away at the next version. I have team in place ready to data entry 5000 products for our web integration. Hope its not far away :)

  20. 20 Posted by Jonny on 15 Aug, 2013 07:59 AM

May turns to June, then July and now August. Any update guys?

  21. 21 Posted by james on 10 Sep, 2013 11:15 AM

and now September. My Checkout store runs like a snail.

  22. 22 Posted by sheppard on 10 Sep, 2013 11:39 AM

Hehe, just what I said, since the sofa guys left. No major updates and
nothing to see for the future.
It's a pitty as Checkout Usability is great and the design better than
    any other ERP.
But support is lousy, last four years no major updates and i think there
will be nothing for a long time.

The shopify update may be nice for shopify customers but for no one
else. A order CSV import for all of your customers would have been a lot
    smarter.

Wanted to weigh in briefly on the topic of CO4. We can understand your frustration and frankly, if it were as easy as it sounds, we'd opt to have constant upgrades churned out more regularly. While we are working on an upgrade (I do not have a date), we've also been very focused on performance/stability and have delivered numerous updates on that front. Which is why I'm concerned about @james comments about his slow store. We're not hearing about many/any performance issues, so if you're experiencing issues please make sure you're working with support so that we can figure out what's going on. As far as add'l major features/an upgrade; if we're not delivering a feature that's key for your business, Checkout may not be the ideal fit and it's reasonable for you to look elsewhere. Hopefully CO4 includes a feature that's important for your store, but likewise, there will be many features we never add to Checkout.

As always, we appreciate your business and interest.

    Thanks... Scott @ Acclivity

What a cop out mate. The problem is that these BASIC features have been promised since day dot. Web 'integration' has always been touted as a feature that was going to be improved. GST calculation on the sales screen was promised in 3.1.

While I agree the stability has been good, and performance improved a lot over the last releases. So much so that I have been able to continue using an older machine. But these don't make up for your companies pathetic approach to deadlines or rollouts.

Like many have said, we LOVE the software. This is not the problem. It just needs to evolve a little into what we have been promised.

Why isn't it easy to update the software? If you need more developers or better developers- hirer them!

  25. 25 Posted by james on 10 Sep, 2013 05:23 PM

I know it isn't easy Scott but realistically it's nearly a year since you said that version 4 would 'hopefully' be out towards the end of 2012. At the very least you should be giving your users some clues into what's going on, otherwise you're just going to lose them.

  26. 26 Posted by tom on 19 Sep, 2013 08:58 PM

My Checkout is running super right now.
I did update my mac mini to the latest 2.6 i7 and ssd drive but still on just 4 gb ram.
I don't use it for purchasing though, database is 376 mb)
Finally my old 15ms Iiyami touch screen works with one touch on this fastest mini possible :)
But I do still have a few ghosted products and support never helped me getting rid off them. ( can't delete them but also can't see them but barcodes are in there).
Also I see that sometimes the program does need a logout to get the sales screen going on. Old versions never used to hang with me.
All the best and hope you get it forward.

  27. 27 Posted by james on 20 Sep, 2013 07:05 AM

Thanks Tom, glad it's working well for you

Did the SSD make a big difference?

Not sure what you mean about not using for purchasing. So how do you get your stock on to Checkout? Using a network computer? If so, does this not affect the speed of your sales computer at all?

Interested to know your network setup

    Cheers

    Hi James,

The ssd made a huge difference, but I had ssd already on my old 2008 mac mini.
Going from 2008 to latest 2012 mac mini model 2.6 with quad core really did kick it a lot forward. Especially since I use touch screen I have a huge need for speed otherwise when it acts too slow you start hitting the screen 2 or 3 times and just slowing things more down.

I mean I don't use the PO part, when stock comes I just throw it in in the stock room.
Also I just have most products without stock info, since It is just too time consuming to keep adding low amounts of stock. But I do have stock count on the part that I find important. I think it helps the database staying a little leaner I have only about 15 PO's in there.

    Tom

    Hi Tom

Maybe that's my problem - I'm trying to use checkout for stock control. But then that's the whole reason I bought it! I have hundreds of purchase orders.

I'm going to see if an SSD helps. It turned my 17" MBP into a speed demon and I would expect it massively to improve anything which uses a disk-based database like SQL - especially one which probably isn't optimised that well.

    Cheers

    Hi James,
I used to make PO's too and it is a good system, but in the country I live most suppliers never supply the entire PO and then I had all these PO's open so that became a real mess and that is the real reason I stopped. I do use stock count for all items that I need for. But in the shop part I can also check on employees with the suppliers invoice and the timeframe in the products sold report.

I donno if Im the only one but latest mac mini quad core in combo with Iiyami touchscreen works great for checkout. The only slowdown is when typing the quantity since I need to grab the mouse to click on that small quantity field.
My touch screen is still from 2008, its 17 inch, old but works great, much better then it ever did on the old mini I had. Its really responsive now many times I add a new product on the fly with a customer waiting, it only takes me 20 seconds, but it is annoying I always need to change the price field after creation since when creating a product it only creates it ex.vat. duh ( developers can we fix that one day ? )
     rgds,
