3. The Welcome Screen
3.1 Quicktours
The first option on the Welcome Screen is View the Quicktours. These short online tutorials offer you the opportunity to learn about the basic functions of Checkout. Each tour lasts approximately 1 to 2 minutes and is broken down in an easy-to-follow format.
3.2 The Example Store
Included with the software is an example store that is available for training and trial & error purposes. This store is always available to you and is refreshed upon each login, meaning that everything appears to be new and you never have to go searching for an old invoice in an obscure date range. Just remember that, since the example store is refreshed, whatever you record in the example store file will be gone the next time you login to the store.
3.3 Create New Store
When you are ready to create and setup your own store, please refer to Chapter 5. After you have created your Store, Create new Store will change to Manage Stores, where you can backup, delete, restore, and create additional stores.
3.4 Registration
You can register one Mac per license, and your license is tied to your machine ID. Once the software is licensed, you can deactivate your license on that Mac at any time, so if you have problems (an ill Mac, for example), you can just use your deactivated license on a backup Mac. For more information on how to register your Checkout software, please refer to Chapter 4. An active internet connection is required to register or deactivate Checkout.
3.5 Login
You can log into a Store that is hosted on your Mac, hosted on another Mac running a licensed copy of Checkout.
3.6 Hide the Welcome Screen
By default, the welcome screen appears each time you launch the application. Should you wish to hide the welcome screen, simply click the check box at the lower left corner that says “Don’t show the welcome screen on startup”, and the next time you launch the application, you will be taken directly to the login window. Should you ever wish to view the welcome screen again, simply close the Login screen.
