10. Managing Your Suppliers
10.1 What are Suppliers?
Simply put, a supplier is a person or company that you purchase products from that are used by your business in day-to-day operations. Each product in your store is either purchased from a supplier, or the raw materials to produce the product are purchased from a supplier. More information on this can be found in Chapter 11.
10.2 Creating a Supplier
So, now that you know what a supplier is, it’s time to create one for use in the software. First, open the Manager Window. Once there, click on the Suppliers option. In the bottom-left corner, click on the plus (+) sign. This will create a new supplier titled “Unnamed Supplier”. To the right of the supplier list is the details section. Here, you will want to provide the name of the company or individual who you are going to be using as a supplier. As you tab through the fields, enter as much information as you can about the supplier. You can always come back here to edit the information in this screen if need-be. For more information on that, see below.
10.3 Editing a Supplier
If a supplier moves or changes names, you may need to go back and edit their information. If that is the case, click on the name of the supplier you intend to edit in the list to the left. Then, go to the details section on the right side of the window and key over any information you need to change. Once you have completed making the necessary changes, simply close out of the window and your changes will have been saved.
10.4 Deleting a Supplier
Sometimes, you’ll decide to switch suppliers, and then you no longer have a need for an old supplier who you haven’t used in awhile. If this is the case, and you wish to delete a supplier, open the Manager Window and then click on the Suppliers option. When you are there, highlight the supplier you wish to delete by clicking on them in the list to the left, and then, at the bottom-left corner, click on the minus (-) sign. This will pull up a prompt that ask you if this is the supplier you wish to delete. If everything checks out and you want to remove this supplier from your list, click the Delete button.
