Background

Checkout v4.0 requires OS X 10.6.1 or later with at least 1GB of RAM. Stores must be upgraded to v3.0.5 or later in order to upgrade to v4.0. Upgrading can take time depending on the size of the store.

PLEASE NOTE: If you have not purchased the upgrade to Checkout 4 you are free to trial it for 30 days. The upgrade to Checkout 4 is NOT a free upgrade - after the 30 day trial period expires you will need to purchase Checkout version 4 to continue using it.

A Note on MacOS 10.12 Sierra

Checkout 3 is not compatible and CANNOT run on macOS Sierra. To be able to upgrade to Checkout 4 you need to first do some preparation on Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan or earlier.

You can follow one of these two options:

Option 1

Backup your store from a machine running Checkout 3 on an OS X 10.11 or earlier (these instructions will explain how to move your database so that you can Backup from a different machine if needed). If your database is on a machine running any operating system other then Sierra skip to Step 14.

  1. Open Finder
  2. Choose Go > Go to Folder from the menu bar at the top of the screen
  3. Type in: ~/Library/Application Support/Checkout
  4. Highlight the Database.checkout file
  5. Select Edit > Copy from the menu bar at the top of the screen
  6. You've now copied your Checkout database. Paste this onto a flash drive
  7. Bring the flash drive to a machine that is running Mac OS X 10.11 or earlier. Install Checkout 3 if it's not already installed
  8. Open Finder
  9. Choose Go > Go to Folder from the menu bar at the top of the screen
  10. Type in: ~/Library/Application Support/Checkout
  11. If there is already a Database.checkout file here rename it to be OLDDatabase.checkout
  12. Copy your Database from the flash drive into this folder
  13. Open Checkout 3
  14. Backup your Checkout 3 store
  15. Move this backup to a machine running macOS 10.12 Sierra
  16. Follow the instructions listed here

Option 2

Upgrade your store to Checkout 4 before upgrading to macOS 10.12 Sierra:
